Workforce planning that matches capacity to demand

Right skills, right places, right time. We help you plan headcount and capability against real demand instead of habit and history.

Plan capacity against demand, not against last year’s headcount.

The planning problem

Most workforce plans are last year’s numbers with a growth percentage on top. That works until demand shifts shape — a new service line, a technology change, a relocating team — and suddenly you are either short of a scarce skill or carrying capacity nobody needs. Good planning starts from demand and works backward to capability.

What we build with you

  1. Demand picture. What work will actually need doing next year, and in what volumes, described in output terms rather than job titles.
  2. Capability map. Which skills and levels that demand requires, and where your current people do or do not cover it.
  3. Gap scenarios. A few plausible futures, each with the shape of the gap under different assumptions, rather than a single fragile forecast.
  4. Develop, partner, hire, automate. For each gap, a considered choice between developing people, partnering, hiring and changing the work itself.
  5. Cadence. A light quarterly review so the plan stays current instead of being written once and shelved.

Skills planning for large employers

In a big organisation the challenge is rarely knowing what skills exist somewhere — it is knowing where they are, how current they are, and how quickly they can be redeployed. We help you build a practical inventory that stays useful, and a set of rules for moving people between teams without losing momentum.

Planning is not forecasting. We give you a range of scenarios and the reasoning behind them, so your leadership can choose a posture rather than trust a single number.

Connecting to the rest of our work

Workforce planning rarely stands alone. It links directly to workflow design, because the design of work determines how many people of which kinds you need. It links to learning, because building capability is often cheaper and faster than hiring it. And it links to retention, because a plan that ignores why people leave will keep restocking the same gaps.

Governance without bureaucracy

We keep the governance light: one owner for the plan, a small set of measures, and a quarterly conversation that connects demand, capability and budget. The aim is a plan your leaders actually use to make decisions, not a document that exists to satisfy a process.

When demand is uncertain

Certainty is rare, and a plan that assumes it ages badly. We work in scenarios, each with a clear trigger that tells you which one is unfolding. That way your leadership can prepare without pretending to know the future, and can shift posture quickly when the evidence moves. A good plan is less a prediction and more a set of rehearsed responses.

Where plans fail

The most common failure is a plan that describes ambitions but never states what would have to change for a scenario to be met. We attach clear triggers to every scenario, so the plan tells you not only what might happen but also when to respond. That discipline turns planning from an annual ritual into a live instrument your leaders actually consult between reviews.
